What is an IP Address?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical identifier assigned to every device connected to the internet. Think of it as your device's digital home address that allows it to send and receive information across networks.
There are two types:
- IPv4: Traditional format like 192.168.1.1 (32-bit, ~4.3 billion addresses)
- IPv6: Modern format like 2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e:0370:7334 (128-bit, virtually unlimited)
